SHELADIA ASSOCIATES, INC. designs and builds physical, social and institutional infrastructure to support economic growth and strengthen the capabilities of host countries and governments. Our specialty, when we began in 1974, was the design and construction of roads and bridges. Today, with more than 800 projects and some 300 clients in nearly 50 countries, our principal services comprise architecture and engineering (transport, structural, civil and environmental), irrigation and integrated water resources management, rural development and natural resources management, and energy technology management for both fossil fuels and renewables. We have been recognized for our work with the World Bank Group (WBG) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the transport and irrigation/water resource sectors in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa. In addition, SHELADIA has extensive experience in natural resources management and environmental management work for USAID, ADB, WBG, and UN Development Program (UNDP), with more than a decade of experience providing technical assistance to the US Department of Energy (DOE). Our staff includes some 150 licensed professional architects and engineers, construction and project managers, economists, environmental specialists, sociologists, agriculturalists, and energy specialists. Currently, our International Division has carried out over 165 projects in over 50 countries, totaling over $50 million in consulting services. All of our service areas are characterized by core engineering competence, enhanced by proven commitments to decentralized and participatory approaches, institutional strengthening, poverty alleviation, technology transfer, and environmental sustainability. STADD is a development focussed consulting organisation working in the South Asia region with a focus on livelihoods, NRM, and rural technologies. We contribute to areas such as strategy development, project formulation, appraisal, M&E and implementation support for international agencies such as CFC, IFAD, IDRC, ICIMOD, JBIC, UNDP-GEF, UNCTAD.
Functional areas contributed to are livelihoods, markets, value chains, institution development including capacity building, ICT, knowledge management, and sectors such as conservation agriculture, NTFP development, and bamboo sector. All efforts are based on sustainable and equitable principles of engagement. STADD also supports a not-for-profit body pursuing the cause of conservation agriculture.
