The NIESR is Britain's longest established independent economic research institute. Main areas of current research are: Household Behaviour; Econometric & Statistical Issues; Education & Training; Employment Policy; Industrial Relations; Macroeconomic modelling & forecasting; Productivity & Economic Growth; and Public Sector Measurement. We have experience in building bioeconomic models of multispecies fisheries shared by EU nations and in considering the trade and property right implications of growth in genetically modified crops. Our international econometric model (NiGEM) is widely used by Finance Ministries and Central Banks. All activities are underpinned by NIESR's long standing strength in quantitative applied economic and social research.
We have developed a macroeconomic model of the African economy.

We have developed separate macroeconomic models for oil and non-oil country aggregates.

We have also developed a macroeconomic model of non-OECD western hemisphere counties excluding Brazil.

We have also developed a macroeconomic model of East Asia and of West Asia.

The Natural Resources Institute (NRI) is a specialist institute of the University of Greenwich. We provide research, consultancy, training and advisory services to underpin sustainable development, economic growth and poverty reduction. The majority of our activities focus on the harnessing of natural and human capital for the benefit of developing countries. NRI is registered by the British Standards Institute to ISO 9001. Working in partnership with development agencies, we contribute to pro-poor policy formulation and undertake research and technical evaluations that underpin planning and investment decisions. Through our practical experience of identifying and exploiting economic opportunities for the poor in the natural resources sector, we have strong links with private sector players and the intermediary organizations that represent them.
